Installation instructions

  • The distance to the highest average groundwater level must be at least 1 meter and must always be calculated by a qualified engineer prior to installation.
  • Before installing the UWR System, it must be ensured that the subgrade is suitable for installation of the UWR modules and meets the specified compaction requirements according to road construction standards.
  • The UWR System is installed on a compacted leveling layer of 0/8 gravel or crushed stone (2–5 mm) with high hydraulic performance and sufficient stability to allow work without surface deformation.
  • The gravel layer must not exceed 3–5 cm in thickness and must be compacted according to applicable standards.
  • During work on the gravel layer, plastic sheets must be used to prevent settlement and footprints.
  • A pump sump must always be established in the excavation to manage rainwater from surrounding areas.
  • The UWR System must be installed according to the engineer’s detailed drawings, sections, and layout plans with the specified design elevations.
  • When backfilling around the UWR System with granular materials, a 5 cm protective sand layer must be applied. The perforation holes on the surface of the UWR Pipe/Connect modules must also be filled and covered with sand.
  • Finally, a 20 cm layer of base material (stabilized gravel/sand) is placed on top of the system and compacted. Compaction must not exceed 400 kg / 55 kN (e.g. plate compactor or roller max. 2.7 tons and 55 kN). Compaction must achieve a minimum of 98% Proctor value around the entire system.

Assembly of UWR Connect

The system installation begins with the UWR Connect modules, preferably downstream.
Modules are assembled first in width and then in height according to the basin dimensions. Each layer must be assembled as a complete unit. Before installing UWR Pipe modules, all UWR Covers, UWR Connect Rings, and UWR Pin Locks must be installed in the UWR Connect modules.

Modules are connected using UWR Connect Rings and secured with Pin Lock wedges at both top and bottom. Unused openings must be sealed with UWR Covers.

It is recommended to pre-assemble modules on a clean surface before lowering them into the excavation.

For vertical connections within the system, UWR Connect Ring Repair must be used.

The DN 500 rubber seal must be oriented so both seals face the same direction. The repair ring is pressed through both modules to ensure equal fixation.

Assembly of UWR Pipe

Before installing UWR Pipe modules, the base layer must be properly compacted in accordance with relevant standards.

Sides and bottom of UWR Connect modules must be backfi lled and compacted to create sufficient support before installing UWR Pipe.

Once materials are compacted to the top of the modules and secured with Pin Lock, installation of UWR Pipe can begin.

Pre-assembly of three UWR Pipe modules is recommended.
Ask UWR for advice on practical handling.

General Instructions

Som hovedregel installeres anlægget med ”studsende” fra UWR Pipemodulet i vandets strømningsretning.

After installation, all modules must be secured with Pin Lock wedges to prevent displacement and ensure alignment.

Pinlock ensures that the pipe modules do not shift in relation to each other, thus aligning both horizontally and vertically. The modules must be assembled so that they follow each other precisely.

Use of S-Lock is recommended on all external sides. Pin Lock is mandatory.

Side compaction must reach at least 98% Proctor value.

Approved silicone oil spray or lubricant must be used on seals during installation.

All joints must be clean and free of dirt before assembly and comply with drainage regulations.

For horizontal installation of UWR Cover Pipe, a concrete cone must be installed around the pipe. It is important that the UWR Cover and other insertion pipes are firmly secured. CoverPipe 425 is recommended for inspection pipes.

Care must be taken when handling products due to material strength properties.

Only unpack modules intended for same-day installation, especially in rain or frost.

Installation must comply with the legal requirements for the installation of drainage systems/infiltration basins, including, among other things, legally required training.
